17^th Virtual Walkathon

Welcome Message

The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) is a non-governmental, non-for-profit umbrella charity organization; its inception was in the year 2000 but was fully active in the year 2002 and in 2004 it was registered at the Ministry of Social Development. The Association is the brainchild of a 4 times cancer survivor Hon. Mrs. Yuthar AlRawahi.

Since 2003 the annual walkathon is one of the Oman Cancer Association’s landmark programs. The main concept is to make cancer patients, survivors and their families realize that they are not alone. We involve children and adolescents as a long-term program for cancer awareness and at the same time raising funds. The 2019 walkathon registered over 8,400 participants.

COVID 19 pandemic globally has created a different life style and due to this paradigm shift as we at the Oman Cancer Association believe in the great importance of the annual walkathon and to adhere to the government regulations in regards to the pandemic the Association decided to conduct the 17^th Annual walkathon as a virtual walkathon with the same spirit and with involvement of the community assuring them total safety within the comfort of their homes, with global participation.

The Oman Cancer Association has attained a virtual platform with the latest technology that has multi-functions that includes conducting of the Walkathon.

The OCA platform for the virtual walkathon is immersive and interactive. The walk is estimated to be just over an hour an a half and while virtually walking the registrants will have an opportunity to become aware of the status of OCA both locally and globally and will be introduced to the many of the Association’s programs and the work done by OCA including its vision, mission and objectives. We will introduce the community to the many awards received by the Association locally and internationally.

As this is the first time the Association is using the virtual walkathon platform the registration would be for free. It will be held on from Midnight Saturday 22^nd and Sunday 23^rd of May 2021. We look forward for you joining us in this much-awaited event.

Enjoy the interaction with our football star Mr Ali Al Habsi.  Discover within the virtual walkathon platform the scenic and beautiful Oman. The platform will be available for your entertainment for a period of 2 days (48 hours). The platform will be on for the two days continuously so the registrants can join in with their families at their convenience.

Your participation through the on-line registration will support the Oman Cancer Association to serve the cancer patients and their families who are very much in need of your support.
